The Ten Little Pieces Story

The Ten Little Pieces Vision

At Ten Little Pieces, we’re dedicated to creating a world where people and wildlife thrive in a healthy, sustainable environment. We take practical action and advocate for policies that protect our planet

and promote social justice.

Our educational programs turn awareness into action, inspiring individuals of all ages to pursue sustainability—one little piece, one little step at a time.

We’re proud to collaborate with partners like 5 Gyres, Plastic Pollution Coalition, The Jane Goodall Foundation, Teach SDGs, and UNEP’s Global Partnership on Plastic Pollution and Marine Litter. These partnerships help amplify our efforts to combat plastic pollution and drive real change. By working together with local and global organizations, we’re addressing some of the world’s most urgent environmental challenges.

Every little piece makes a difference...

Ten Little Pieces came about one beautiful Summer’s day on Noosa Main Beach  with my hot, tired and cranky children asking  for an ice cream.

While I packed up the beach kit, I said to my kids that an ice cream would cost them ten little pieces of rubbish. To my astonishment, they returned to me with hands full of cans, bottles, straws, food wrappers and cigarette butts.  We washed our hands, and as we got the ice creams, my 6 year old asked  if he could have his ice cream in a cone because.... he didn't want the little plastic spoon that came with the cup.

From little things, big things grow.

The simple act of collecting litter opens conversations around conscious consumerism, environmental stewardship and a rethinking of our concept of waste.   Our reach is all about you, the parents, educators and kids that are stepping up all over the world to create ripple effects of change.

"Thank you for your efforts - they mean the World"

 ~ Ali Foley - Founder & Director

The Problem

Environmental challenges can feel complex and overwhelming.

From plastic pollution to biodiversity loss, the scale of these issues often leads to disconnection and inaction.

We focus on building understanding, connection and agency in response.

We've reached over 15,000 children with our education programs across Southeast Queensland. Our online programs are coming soon... stay tuned.

Our Approach

Lasting change is shaped through three interconnected elements to support informed decision-making and sustained engagement.:

  • Understanding
Learning how natural systems function, and how human actions influence them.
  • Connection
Developing a genuine sense of care for place, wildlife and community.
  • Action
Taking practical, achievable steps that build confidence and momentum over time.

What We Do

We design and deliver sustainability education that is:

  • Age-appropriate and evidence-informed
  • Hands-on and engaging
  • Real-world science for real-world solutions

             Our work spans:

  • Early learning environments
  • Primary and secondary schools
  • Community programs and events
  • Strategic partnerships
