Peer-reviewed research, commissioned reports, and applied interventions
informing environmental action methodologies and state of knowledge advancement

A field-teste intervention developed by Ten Little Pieces to reduce cigarette butt pollution through behaviour change, infrastructure, and education.
Developed through UNEP-aligned expert training and featured as a case study in WWF’s Plastic Revolution to Reality report, this model delivers measurable outcomes and supports scalable, community-based implementation.

Co-authored by Ten Little Pieces, this report examines the 2022 Queensland “White Spill” event, where floodwaters dislodged marine infrastructure, releasing large volumes of polystyrene across 250 km of coastline.
It presents environmental impacts, emergency response insights, and practical strategies to prevent and manage future marine debris incidents.

Co-authored by Ten Little Pieces, this peer-reviewed study published in Chemosphere 337 (2023) examines the 2022 Queensland “white spill" polystyrene marine catastrophe, its impacts and recommendations.
Using life cycle assessment, it evaluates marine pontoon material recovery pathways highlighting the significant environmental burden of transport and landfill systems.
Produced by Noosa Council, Pontoon documents the White Spill, one of Australia's most significant marine pollution disasters. Following major flooding in 2022, expanded polystyrene from damaged marine pontoons spread across South East Queensland waterways and coastlines. Through the experiences of those involved, the film explores the environmental impacts, the extraordinary response and the immense logistical challenges of managing a disaster of this scale across sensitive coastal ecosystems.
